And when the poles flip, there's about 800 years of *mess* while they get it all sorted out. Meanwhile, our protective magnetosphere isn't. All those delicate and expensive satellites up there can't handle raw solar flares. Plus, you'll want to stock up on SPF 500 sunscreen.
Of course, the Sun appears to be having digestive issues too at the moment. Ice age, anyone?

Hah -- if you think a magnetic pole reversal leaves a mess, wait'll you see what happens when this place *physically* swaps ends.
